El Dragon: Return of a Warrior tells the story of Miguel Garza, who is played by Sebestian Rulli, who is a charming and successful entrepreneur. Miguel is a narcissistic man who believes that the world revolves around him and everyone can get influenced by his physical appearance and striking personality. El Dragon focuses on this success story of Miguel whose archenemy is his own ambition.

El Dragon Season 1 is set in Ciudad Jimenez, Mexico. Miguel’s parents, Roberto and Lucia Garza, die in the attack; however, he and his brother and sister survive. After this, the capo Lamberto, Gaza in order to protect his grandchildren, sends Miguel to study abroad and also for turning him into a successful businessman, while he keeps Chisca, played by Cassandra Sánchez Navarro, by his side at the ranch where he lives and controls the largest drug distribution network in the region.
The show takes a leap of 20 years, Miguel now lives a quiet life with his beloved girlfriend Asya in Japan. Miguel has also become an eminent financier. The story takes a major turn when Dora, his grandfather Lamberto’s wife, calls him up and tells him a matter of life and death has sprung up and he has to travel to Mexico as soon as possible.

Upon returning to the Mexican city of Ciudad Jimenez, Miguel gets to know that his grandfather has been ailing from Alzheimer’s disease which has made him very weak both mentally and physically. Soon after, Miguel is instructed by Lamberto that he has to take care of the affairs of the family estate for him and he has 24 hours to decide if he will accept the position of head of the cartel business or not.
Without complaining much, Miguel accepts the leadership position of his family’s cartel. Thereby he fulfils his sick grandfather’s wishes. However, Miguel does not want to pose as a drug dealer. This controversial and dangerous position in the cartel becomes very challenging for Miguel.
Miguel thinks that he can transform this illegal and notorious family cartel business into something that is not violent and unethical. Miguel is very ambitious and wishes to make money by circulating it around the world through lucrative but legal financial investments.

The story takes a tragic turn when Miguel’s wife Asya commits suicide on learning that she suffers from a deadly disease. This makes Miguel heartbroken and he decides on closing the doors to his heart.
Cold and heartbroken, Miguel then meets Adela, played by Renata Notni. She is a taxi driver and has a charming and selfless personality. After Asya Adela becomes the only woman who tries to get to know Miguel and is not swayed by his wealth and power. Adela challenges him to look into his inner self, as we know Miguel is a narcissistic megalomaniac but Adela makes him accept his good qualities and makes them shine out.
Beyond these romantic and tragic plots, Miguel must survive in the dark world of the Mafias. Throughout the action-packed El Dragon Season 1 and Season 2 we are able to see Miguel use his samurai warrior and yakuza skills, which he had picked up from Japan. He uses these skills to overtake the other Mafia bosses.

El Dragon Season 1 premiered on 30 September 2019 and ended on 22 November 2019. El Dragon Season 2 was dropped on 25 November 2019 and ended on 20 January 2020.
Due to the Covid19 Pandemic, El Dragon Season 3 was delayed. According to the reports, El Dragon Season 3 will be released in the middle of 2022. It is also expected to have about 40+ episodes.
